The numbers speak for themselves. 65 shots for Israel, 8 shots for Greece, no defensive or offensive set up and the game ended at 26:2 in favor of Israel. These are not hockey scores and in fact today’s result is the worst result in the history of Greek Ice Hockey. The only two goals from the Greek side were scored by Fournogerakis and Adamidis K, other than that there is no point to comment further, since today one team was playing offense and the other was trying to defend.
The federations’s actions clearly show in the results of these games. Anybody watching the live stream could have witnessed the Israel team ridiculing the Greek team, with fancy dekes and lack of effort. Which to be honest should not make anybody feel proud! Like the Greek National Team used to beat Turkey in the early days of Greece’s participation in the Worlds, the same result was also happening against Israel as well. But like Turkey, Israel also did the necessary changes in the federation for the sport to develop the right way.
If any other federation of any sport in the world would have lost with these extreme score differences, the federation’s president, especially after being the one that decided to ban the best players from the National Team, WOULD HAVE HAD THE DECENCY TO APOLOGIZE AND THE DIGNITY TO RESIGN AFTER THE CLOSING OF THIS CHAMPIONSHIP.
Only in Greece do we continue to take leaps backwards and yet the president remains the same.
In the other game of the day, Turkey beat Luxemburg 6:5 in an exciting game. Turkey’s easy game against Greece gave the coach the opportunity to rest it’s best players and have them ready in today’s bronze medal game. On the other hand, Luxemburg had a very tough game against South Africa and couldn’t produce as expected today.
